Laser Hair Removal Aftercare

At your appointment (which may immediately follow your consultation, depending on your preference), you will don appropriate garments for your treatment. Hair that has been recently plucked, tweezed or waxed will not respond very well to this type of treatment, as the follicle has been affected and won’t receive full benefit. Rather, any hair should be closely shaved before treatment to enable the laser to target pigment of the hair as it grows beneath the skin.

During your treatment with the Soprano XLi in our office, you will be given protective eyewear and will relax in our treatment room. The laser is configured for your treatment area and skin type, and the laser tip is moved in a massaging motion on your skin, providing a sensation like a warm stone massage. Session times vary depending on area treated, but legs are generally about a half hour, and lip and chin take mere minutes.

After your treatment, we make sure you are neat and comfortable, and you are free to resume all normal activities. You should avoid sun exposure on the treated area during the period after your treatment, but no other post-treatment cautions are necessary! Within days, the treated hair will extrude and disappear, leaving your areas hair-free until the beginning of the next growth cycle when new, untreated hairs will appear. If you have treated your hairs multiple times through the growth cycle of each, you may find that you then stay hair-free.

There is no special need after the treatment and you will require no special products.
