Cosmetic Procedures Popular During the Holiday Season
As we enter the new year, many of us are making resolutions for the year to come. Interestingly, there is an increasing number of people who are making the “resolution” to undergo popular cosmetic procedures. And often these people are also giving their loved ones the “gift of a lift”.
Many people are looking in the mirror and making the decision to do something special just for themselves. Some are undergoing a “mini-facelift” during the holiday vacation break. This type of procedure has minimal downtime and great results. Many people say this a one of the best gifts they can give themselves.
Interestingly, the demand for cosmetic procedures during the holiday season is about 25 percent higher than any other time of the year, according to statistic from the American Academy of Plastic Surgeons. At the top of the list are procedures such as rhinoplasty (nose job) and blepharoplasty (eyelid lift).
However, this increase in the popularity of cosmetic procedure is not limited to the holiday season. As more and more people are choosing cosmetic procedures — not just celebrities — the stigma surrounding plastic surgery seems to be disappearing.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery states that in 2014 nearly $12 billion was spent on cosmetic procedures. At the top of the list of the most popular procedures were liposuction, eyelid reconstruction, nose jobs, breast augmentation, facelifts, and BOTOX treatments. In 2015, we say an increase in male breast reduction and an increase in butt augmentations.
A Look at the Numbers
During the holiday season, those who are having cosmetic procedures performed say they want to look as good as possible for the “party” circuit — attending social gatherings and going on trips. Also, the holiday season offers lengthy breaks from work, allowing patients recovery time.
Other popular cosmetic procedures continue to be dermal fillers including products such as Restylane and Juvederm. These fillers are great for adding volume to lips and cheeks, as well as getting rid of the lines around the mouth. Dermal fillers can also return youthful volume and contours to the face.
Dr. Thomas Wright, medical director of Laser Lipo and Vein Center, says, “In addition to these procedures, we have also seen a dramatic increase in clients seeking body sculpting procedures.” He says that the non-invasive procedure that can give patients a sleeker trimmer look has become very popular.
