Restylane is cosmetic filler that can restore volume to facial features seeing the signs of aging.
Skin in our youth was free from signs of aging such as sagging or sun damage. It was firm, smooth and healthy, and our faces were triangular in proportion.
As we age, we may see a widening of the face that causes wrinkles to appear around the mouth and deeper nasolabial folds. Certain areas such as those under the eye can lose volume and appear hollow.
Restylane injections can help restore volume to those areas, fill in wrinkles and bring back a more youthful look.

Benefits of Restylane
One of the main benefits of Restylane is that it provides instant results in smoothing and softening aging lines to improve your look by accentuating natural features such as the lips or cheeks. Restylane injections improves skin elasticity, restores volume, and smooths out lines and imperfections. The effects of Restylane are not permanent, but are long lasting, allowing you to maintain control of your look.
Common areas for Restylane injections include:
- Nasolabial folds
- Cheeks and chin
- Back of the hands, face, and décolletage
- Between the eyebrows
The Restylane Procedure
Restylane is injected into the face in small amounts via a very fine hypodermic needle. The Restylane gel provides structure and hydration, and provides natural volume. You’ll see the appearance of lines smooth away, fuller lips or an enhanced facial shape.
The treatment is fast and usually takes less than a half an hour, with almost instant results. No skin tests will be required before the procedure because this product doesn’t contain animal-derived ingredients.
Some patients may experience some minor discomfort, and a numbing cream can be used. A dental block can be used when enhancing the lip area. This discomfort is minor and is usually felt during the actual procedure.
You may experience some swelling, redness, tenderness, itching or bruising that can be expected through any type of injection. These are temporary and will usually disappear quickly. If lip augmentation is being performed, you should choose a time where you can remain at home, as your lips may look swollen and uneven for a few days.
While not permanent, Restylane does provide long-last results the duration of which depends on influences like lifestyle, skin type, and age. Follow-ups are recommended on the following schedule:
Lip augmentation – approximately 6 months
Facial lines/reshaping – after 6 to 12 months
Skin rejuvenation/deep hydration –about every 6 months
